During this field trip, students are invited on board the research boat Chesapeake to explore one of America's national treasures, the Chesapeake Bay. Scientists explain the geological origins and evolving ecosystems that have made this body of water a heritage to be preserved and protected. Students are also witness to the Bay's diversity of life and learn how urbanization and development are destroying the Bay's watershed and threatening the plant and animal life living in these waters. Representatives from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation offer practical education and conservation activities for students. During the last thirty minutes, experts answered call-in questions from students.
